What to bring:
- Your own gloves (and any extras to share). Really, you will want gloves. You can pick up gardening gloves at the Dollar Store in Fair Lawn but you can also just use your winter gloves.
- Optional: claw/trash-pickers and rakes (put your name on everything).
- Filled reusable water bottle.
- A clipboard if you have one!
- We recommend wearing long pants with socks pulled up
- Rain boots or old sneakers. There is a lot of mud in Glen Rock right now... so rain or work boots are highly recommended.
Where to go:
- You were emailed your assigned site. Please get there by 9:30 AM.
- You will meet your site leader there and they will give you more instructions.
- Please walk and bike when you can so we can save the planet :)
What to do:
- Use gloves and be cautious while picking up trash.
- Poison Ivy and Poison Oak can be anywhere we are cleaning up.
- If your kids are with you, warn them to not pick up needles (needles were NOT found last year, but you never know).
- Deposit trash into black bags and separate recyclables (cans and plastic bottles into clear bags)
- Remember: Dirty cardboard or paper is NOT recyclable.
- Please supervise your children carefully.
- Alert your site leader if you find anything of concern (syringes, etc)
- Filled your trash and recycling bags? Bring them to your site leader!
- Take a ton of pictures and post them to social media #GRCleanUp! We want to see what is out there. Don't forget to take before and after pictures, especially with your whole group!

Clean-Up Sites
DEMAREST PARK TO BORO HALL
- Start at Demarest Park.
- If there is time, please follow the arrows below and pick up trash along this path.
- The area labeled bushes had the most trash.
- Leave trash bags on Glen Ave.
Pool Playground (bushes around the outside of the fence) - Small Kid Friendly
- If you have a rake, bring it to this site (put your name on it first!)
Main Line Train Station and Main Street "Woods"
- If you have a rake, bring it to this site (put your name on it first!)
- This area is very spread out.
Arboretum Trails
- If you have a rake, bring it to this site (put your name on it first!).
- Watch out for poison ivy and poison oak.
- Look around the trails but also look along the banks of the streams.
- Much of the garbage may be under the leaves so kick them around.
DPW Swampy Land
- If you have a rake, bring it to this site (put your name on it first!)
- This area is very wet and swamp. We strongly recommend boots.
- Much of the garbage may be under the leaves so kick them around.
DIAMOND BROOK PARK
- Meet in front of 687 Doremus and enter the park together but pods should go in different directions.
- Much of the trash is on the hillsides, exercise caution as some areas are steep.
- Please also travel along all of the trails to find trash.
- Leave trash bags on the curb around 687 Doremus.
Gully and Wilde Memorial (small kid friendly)
- The group should move up and down the PSEG gully AND into Wilde Memorial Park
Sycamore Park (START AT SYCAMORE) and Coleman School Grounds
- Field and woods clean-up.
Duck Pond
- Lots of litter around the banks of the pond and river.
END OF GOODVIET
- Climb the hill and collect as much trash as you can WITHOUT going on to Route 208.
- Once you finish the dead end, please pick up trash that that is up and down Goodviet.
- Leave your trash bags at the corner of Goodviet and Boulevard.
- If you finish early, join the team under the 208 overpass (see below)
UNDER ROUTE 208 ALONG BOULEVARD
- Enter 251 Boulevard into your GPS.
- You'll be cleaning up all the trash that is under 208.
- Trash is on both sides of Boulevard.
- Leave your tied up trash bags on the curb of Boulevard.
CORNER OF LINOLN AND ISABELLA
- Park on Isabella.
- There is a wooded section right at the corner that needs to be picked clean.
- Leave your trash bags on the curb on Isabella.
DEAN STREET PARK
- Corner of Elizabeth and Dean
- Once you do this park, if you have time, please do up and down Dean Street as well.
- Leave your trash bags on the curb on Dean.
